We are headed back to the beautiful Mexican Caribbean to chase all of the flats fish species! The Xflats holds a special place in my heart, and to those that visit. Located near the Belize border, The Xflats is in Xcalak, Q.Roo, MX, a safe, sleepy Mexican fishing village of 400 residents. I truly believe this area of the Caribbean boasts the absolute best permit fishery in the world. While permit are MY main species, there is every opportunity you want to chase bonefish, tarpon, snook, cuda, triggerfish, etc...
LAST YEAR, 2023 HOSTED TRIP:
I brought a small group of 3, plus me. Little to no experience in the saltwater. Along with another 8 or so friendly guests at the lodge, we caught a whopping 31 PERMIT in total! This was the second highest ever recorded since the lodge's inception. From my group, 2 anglers caught multiple throughout the week, we had 1 double permit, and Jackson rolled out with a GRANDSLAM (permit,tarpon,bonefish in one day)!
Needless to say, we had an amazing time; shout out to Stan, Tommy, and Jackson!
Why join a hosted trip?
I have been to the Xflats many many times. Its where I cut my teeth permit fishing, before the lodge even existed. I helped the owner and one of my very best friends, Jesse, get this place off the ground. I am very proud of this place and I am excited to share it with you.There are many benefits of traveling with a "pro/expert" and someone, like myself, who has been through the motions many times.

- Packing suggestions; clothes/gear/accoutrements
- Help build leaders, select flies, teach you how to permit fish
- Have extra terminal gear for you to use or borrow
- Rotate who I fish with so whoever wants it gets real-time advice , extra eyes, etc...
